Fire and Aviation Discussion for Libby Montana

Fire season looks to be winding down rapidly at this point with fire weather discussions no longer going to be updated unless conditions change. This will be the last fire weather discussion of the 2019 fire season. This discussion will not be updated again unless conditions change or until the 2020 fire season.

Aviation discussion as of 8:05 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2019 valid through 10:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019: High MVFR conditions in showers are likely to persist through this evening before decreasing to MVFR ceilings overnight as showers persist. LLWS will be very likely as strong winds aloft begin to develop towards morning. MVFR ceilings will likely lift to VFR by mid to late morning as mixing increases with strong winds aloft and some gusty southerly winds surfacing at the airport perhaps up to 15 kts. Ridge top winds will be westerly around 30 to 35 kts. Ceilings will likely persist through the day but rise to near 7,000 feet or higher so the highest elevations of the Cabinets may remain obscured through the day.
